Spreading the "LOVE"

Posted on February 13, 2026 by Jessie Yoh | 0 Comments

Love shows itself in different ways, and today we'd like to thank everyone for their love and support for helping us grow in the past year and a half. Many of you have not only financially supported us, but have also given us wise advice and the extra motivation to keep us going. With your love, we've been able to spread a bit of love outside the US to the tiny village of Kaberamaido, Uganda.

In the spirit of love (and in keeping with our motto of "made with love, for love", we'd like everyone to do the following today:

As you sit back and enjoy that decadent box of chocolate or admire that piece of timeless jewelry from your significant other, think about how that piece of chocolate or diamond came to belong in your hands. Where did it originate? Who helped create it? And finally, does your purchase positively impact someone else? Think about how many places that product has traveled within the supply chain, starting from its origin. Then ask yourself, has that product been made in a socially ethical and conscious way? Chances are, the answer is no. In a world where change is possible starting with one person, you can make a difference by making sure that you are buying goods from organizations that are striving for change.

With so many organizations that socially conscious or aim to improve working conditions, you can help the movement. We'll start you off with some of our favorites:

  • Newman's Own Organics: For chocolate, generally good food, and hey, even pet food
  • Divine Chocolate: The first farmer owned chocolate company in the world, based in Ghana
  • Ethical Coffee Chain: Buying coffee directly from Nicaraguan farmers
  • Brilliant Earth: Conflict free diamonds and raising standards beyond the Kimberly Process
  • Harry's: As they say, "Steel is forever", giving 1% of sales and 1% of time
  • Better Life Bags: Invests a portion of proceeds to entrepreneurs in developing countries via Kiva.org
  • Ssecko Designs: An ethical fashion brand based in Uganda
  • Hydros: Supporting sustainable water projects for the 1 in 7 people around the world who lack access to clean water

Let us know if there are any favorites of yours that you'd like to share!
