How many times have you gotten a stocking stuffer that served no purpose other than to take up space in your stuffer? Sometimes, we get amazing gifts in stockings, but many times, the stuffers are nothing but trinkets.

So, this year consider this "distressed lump of coal". Yes, there is a such thing as soap made with (char)coal, and it actually does wonders. In fact, we'd argue that it's the next best thing after sliced bread.

WHAT IS CHARCOAL SOAP?

Charcoal soap is made with activated charcoal, which has the ability to help reduce blackheads, temper acne, and naturally remove makeup. We even wrote a blogpost on a before and after on how this bar helps reduce blackheads!

HOW IS "DISTRESSED" CHARCOAL MADE?

Typically, we handmake our soaps with oils at around 100-110 degrees F. To achieve this distressed look, we soap at a much higher temperature, usually at 130 degrees F and above. This causes somewhat of an implosion while the soap is setting. Don't worry- this soap works just as well as our regular starry night bar. It just looks distressed!

WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF MY PURCHASE?

• More Than Me's fight to eradicate Ebola in Libera. Katie Meyler has been in West Point, Liberia since the late summer to coordinate a plan of action to fight Ebola and help orphaned kids cope with the situation. The good news is that the effort appears to be working- new infection rates are declining and there are actually empty hospital beds in some areas. The bad news is that so many children have been left orphaned that there will be even more work to do once Ebola is fully gone. 20% of proceeds from this bar will go towards More Than Me in however they see fit to pick up the pieces, whether it's towards the Ebola fight or post-Ebola.
